आत्मा तो अपनी ही है फिर पाने की क्या जरूरत??

एक प्रश्न है-  ओशो, अपने को, अपनी आत्मा को पाने की क्या जरूरत है? जो अपना है उसको ही कैसे पाना है?

बड़ा अच्छा प्रश्न है। बड़ी समझदारी का और बड़ी नासमझी का भी।

लिखा है ' अपने को अपनी आत्मा को पाने की क्या जरूरत है?'
बिलकुल ही ठीक लिखा है। जो अपनी है उसको पाने की क्या बात है? उसको पाने का कोई सवाल नहीं है। जो अपना ही है उसको पाना क्या है? तो जो आत्मा है उसे क्या पाना है? यह तो बिलकुल ठीक बात है। आत्मा को पाने की बिलकुल जरूरत नहीं है।
लेकिन आत्मा आपके पास है? जो अपना है वह है आपके पास? यानी आपको लगता है कि आत्मा आपमें है?
अगर है तो जरूर ही बिलकुल नहीं पाना है। और अगर नहीं लगता तो फिर? अगर आपको लगता है सुनिश्चित कि मेरे भीतर आत्मा है, तो सच में ही नहीं पाना है। फिर पाने की क्या बात है! लेकिन आपको लगता है कि आत्मा है? लगता नहीं होगा। लगता इतना ही होगा यह देह है, ज्यादा से ज्यादा मन है, और क्या है?
तो मैं आपको कहूं जो अपना है वह अपना होने की वजह से ही ज्ञात नहीं हो पाता। जो बहुत निकट होता है वह स्मरण में नहीं रह जाता। दूर की चीजें दिखाई पड़ती हैं, पास, बहुत पास की चीजें फिर दिखाई नहीं पड़ती। जो बिलकुल ही निकट है वह इसीलिए नहीं दिखाई पड़ता कि वह बहुत निकट है। और जो बिलकुल अपना है उसे हम इसीलिए भूल जाते हैं। अपना इसीलिए भूल जाता है कि वह बिलकुल अपना है। वह चौबीस घंटे सतत, सोते— जागते, उठते—बैठते हमारे भीतर है। वह इतना हमारे साथ है कि जन्म हमारा नहीं हुआ तब वह था जब हमने जन्म पाया तब है, जब हम मरेंगे तब होगा। तो और सब तो दिखता है जो परिवर्तित होता रहता है, जो परिवर्तित नहीं होता वह दिखता नहीं है।
आप यह जान कर हैरान होंगे, जो चीज बिलकुल परिवर्तित नहीं होती वह आपको दिखेगी नहीं, जो. चीजें परिवर्तित होती हैं वे दिखाई पड़ेगी। परिवर्तन उनको हमारी आंख में स्पष्ट कर देता है। जो बिलकुल ही मौजूद है और कभी बदलता नहीं और हमेशा साथ है, वह भूल जाता है। असल में हम उसी को याद रख पाते हैं जिसे पाना है। आप समझ लें। हम उसी को याद रख पाते हैं जिसे पाना है। जो मिला नहीं है उसकी याद रहती है, जो मिल जाता है वह भूल जाता है।
इसलिए जगत में जो चीजें आप पा लेंगे वे आपको भूल जाएंगी। जो आपने नहीं पाई हैं वे आपको स्मरण बनी रहेंगी। सारी वासना, सारी डिजायर यही तो करती है। जो मिल गया वह भूल जाएगा। आपके पास एक बड़ा भवन है वह आपको भूल जाएगा। जो बड़े भवन आपके पास नहीं हैं वे आपकी याद में होंगे। जो प्रेम आपको मिला वह आपको भूल जाएगा, जो नहीं मिला वह आपके स्मरण में होगा। जो नहीं है वह दिखता रहता है और जो है वह दिखना बंद हो जाता है।
तो आत्मा इसीलिए आपको उपलब्ध होकर भी अनुपलब्ध हो जाती मालूम होती है, क्योंकि वह निरंतर उपलब्ध है, उसका स्मरण नहीं रहता। उसे पाना नहीं है न, इसलिए स्मरण नहीं रहता। उसे खोजना नहीं है, इसलिए स्मरण नहीं रहता।
इसलिए साधक को एक बार एक बड़ी अबूझ पहेली में से गुजरना पड़ता है। उसे उसको फिर से पाना होता है, जिसे वह कभी खोया नहीं। उस सत्य को उसे फिर से पाना होता है, जिसे उसने कभी खोया नहीं। उस भूमि पर पैर रखने होते हैं, जिस भूमि से पैर कभी हटाए ही नहीं थे। उसके प्रति आंख खोलनी होती है, जो निरंतर आंख में था, इसलिए दिखना बंद हो गया था।
यह बात विपरीत लगती है, लेकिन विपरीत नहीं है। बहुत स्वाभाविक है। बहुत स्वाभाविक है। अगर आपको लगता हो कि आत्मा मेरे भीतर है, तब तो कोई सवाल ही नहीं है और कोई प्रश्न भी नहीं है—पूछने न पूछने, जानने न जानने, पाने न पाने का कोई प्रश्न नहीं है। लेकिन अगर न लगता हो, तो अभी तो आपको पता ही नहीं है कि आत्मा है भी या नहीं। जिस दिन आपको पता लगेगा आत्मा मैं हूं उस दिन पाने जैसा कुछ भी नहीं है। जब तक यह नहीं पता लगा है तब तक तो सब पाने जैसा है।
तो अगर कोई यह सोच ले कि आत्मा तो है ही, इसलिए पाना क्या है? तो जीवन नष्ट कर लेगा। यह केवल बातचीत थी, सुन लिया कि आत्मा तो है ही, इसलिए पाना क्या है? यह केवल एक लाजिकल कनवर्जन था। सुन लिया कि लोग कहते हैं आत्मा भीतर है। जब यह सुन लिया, तो हमने सोचा कि फिर पाना क्या है? पाना क्या है, यह हमारा निष्कर्ष है। यह हमारी तरकीब है बचने की। और वह दूसरे का निष्कर्ष है कि आत्मा है। आत्मा है, यह दूसरे का निष्कर्ष है। अब पाना क्या है, पाने की कोई जरूरत नहीं, यह हमारा निष्कर्ष है। आप समझ लें! इस वाक्य में दो व्यक्तियों के निष्कर्ष हैं, एक के नहीं। अगर एक के हों तो बात हल हो जाएगी। आत्मा है, यह महावीर का होगा, बुद्ध का होगा, कृष्ण का होगा। फिर पाना क्या है जब हमारे भीतर है ही, यह हमारा है। अगर पहला भी आपका है, तो फिर कोई दिक्कत नहीं। अगर पहला दूसरे का है, तो दूसरे के अनुभव से आप निष्कर्ष नहीं निकाल सकते। अपना अनुभव अपना निष्कर्ष होगा।दूसरे का अनुभव आपके लिए निष्कर्ष नहीं हो सकता।

अगर तुम पूछो कि परमात्मा का उपयोग क्या है, तो कठिनाई हो जाएगी।

क्या उपयोग हो सकता है परमात्मा का ?

क्या करोगे परमात्मा से ?

 न तो पेट भरेगा, न प्यास बुझेगी।

करोगे क्या परमात्मा का ?

 कौन से लोभ की तृप्ति होगी ?

कौन सी वासना भरेगी ? कौन सी तृष्णा पूरी होगी ?

परमात्मा का कोई उपयोग नहीं। परमात्मा के कारण तुम महत्वपूर्ण न हो जाओगे।

परमात्मा के कारण तुम शक्तिशाली न हो जाओगे। परमात्मा के कारण इस संसार में तुम्हारी प्रतिष्ठा न बढ़ जाएगी। परमात्मा का कोई भी तो उपयोग नहीं है। इसलिए तो जो लोग उपयोग के दीवाने हैं,

वे परमात्मा की तरफ नहीं जाते। परमात्मा का आनंद है, उपयोग बिलकुल नहीं।

मेरे पास लोग आते हैं, वे पूछते हैं : ध्यान करेंगे तो लाभ क्या होगा ?’

लाभ !

तुम बात ही अजीब सी कर रहे हो। तो तुम समझे ही नहीं कि ध्यान तो वही करता है जिसने लाभ-लोभ छोड़ा;

 जिसके मन में अब लाभ व्यर्थ हुआ, जिसने बहुत लाभ करके देख लिए और पाया कि लाभ कुछ भी नहीं होता। धन मिल जाता है, निर्धनता नहीं कटती।

पद मिल जाता है, दीनता नहीं मिटती। सम्मान-सत्कार मिल जाता है, भीतर सब खाली का खाली रह जाता है। नाम जगत भर में फैल जाता है, भीतर सिर्फ दुर्गंध उठती है,

कोई सुगंध नहीं उठती है, कोई फूल नहीं खिलते। भीतर कांटे ही कांटे, पीड़ा और चुभन, संताप और असंतोष, चिंता ही चिंता घनी होती चली जाती है। भीतर तो चिता सज रही है, बाहर महल खड़े हो जाते हैं। बाहर जीवन का फैलाव बढ़ता जाता है, भीतर मौत रोज करीब आती चली जाती है।

जिसको यह दिखाई पड़ा कि लाभ में कुछ लाभ नहीं, वही ध्यान करता है। लेकिन कुछ लोग हैं, जो सोचते हैं शायद ध्यान में भी लाभ हो, तो चलो ध्यान करें।

वे पूछते हैं :

ध्यान से लाभ क्या ?

इससे क्या फायदा होगा ?

सुख-समृद्धि आएगी ?

पद-प्रतिष्ठा मिलेगी ?

धन-वैभव मिलेगा ?

 हार जीत में परिणत हो जाएगी ?

 यह जीवन का विषाद, यह जीवन की पराजय,

 यह जीवन में जो खाली-खालीपन है–यह बदलेगा ?

 हम भरे-भरे हो जाएंगे ?

वे प्रश्न ही गलत पूछते हैं। अभी उनका संसार चुका नहीं। वे जरा जल्दी आ गए। अभी फल पका नहीं। अभी मौसम नहीं आया। अभी उनके दिन नहीं आए।

ध्यान तो वही करता है, या ध्यान की तरफ वही चल सकता है, जिसे एक बात दिखाई पड़ गई कि इस संसार में मिलता तो बहुत कुछ और मिलता कुछ भी नहीं। सब मिल जाता है और सब खाली रह जाता है।

 जिसे यह विरोधाभास दिखाई पड़ गया फिर वह यह न पूछेगा कि ध्यान में लाभ क्या है ?

क्योंकि लाभ होता है व्यावहारिक बातों में। ध्यान पारमार्थिक है।

आनंद है ध्यान में, लाभ बिलकुल नहीं। तुम ध्यान को तिजोड़ी में न रख सकोगे। ध्यान से बैंक-बैलेंस न बना सकोगे। ध्यान से सुरक्षा, सिक्योरिटी न बनेगी।

ध्यान तो तुम्हें छोड़ देगा अज्ञात में। ध्यान में तो तुम्हारी जो सुरक्षा थी वह भी चली जाएगी। ध्यान तो तुम्हें छोड़ देगा अपरिचित लोक में। उस अभियान पर भेज देगा, जहां तुम धीरे-धीरे गलोगे, पिघलोगे, बह जाओगे।

 ध्यान से लाभ कैसे होगा ?

ध्यान से तो हानि होगी–और हानि यह कि तुम न बचोगे। ध्यान तो मृत्यु है। लेकिन तब, जब तुम मर जाते हो–शरीर से ही नहीं शरीर से तो तुम बहुत बार मरे हो; उस मरने से कोई मरता नहीं;

वह मरना तो वस्त्र बदलने जैसा है। पुराने वस्त्रों की जगह नये वस्त्र मिल जाते हैं, बूढ़ा बच्चा होकर आ जाता है। उस मरने से कोई कभी मरा नहीं। मरे तो हैं कुछ थोड़े से लोग–कोई अष्टावक्र, कोई बुद्ध, कोई महावीर–वे मरे। उनकी मृत्यु पूरी है; फिर वे वापस नहीं लौटते।

ध्यान मृत्यु है। ध्यान में तुम तो मरोगे, तुम तो मिटोगे, तुम्हारी तो छाया भी न रह जाएगी। तुम्हारी तो छाया भी अपवित्र करती है। तुम तो रंचमात्र न बचोगे, तुम ही न बचोगे, तुम्हारे लाभ का कहां सवाल ?

तुम स्वयं एक व्यावहारिक सत्य हो। तुम सिर्फ एक मान्यता हो, तुम हो नहीं।

तुम सिर्फ एक धारणा हो, तुम्हारा कोई अस्तित्व नहीं है। तुम्हारी धारणा तो बिखर जाएगी। सब धारणाएं बिखर जाएंगी तुम्हारे बिखरते ही। क्योंकि जब मालिक ही न रहा, तो जो सब साज-सामान इकट्ठा कर लिया था, वह सब बिखर जाएगा। जब संगीतज्ञ ही न रहा, तो वीणा क्या बजेगी ?

कहते हैं :

 ‘न रहा बांस न बजेगी बांसुरी।’ तुम ही गए तो बांस ही गया, अब बांसुरी का कोई उपाय न रहा। तब जो शेष रह जाएगा,

वही समाधि है–वह है पारमार्थिक !
